The Whole Truth and Nothing But the Truth

It may not always come across as pretty, it may sometimes sound harsh or cold, but you will ALWAYS be told the TRUTH here at Put An End to the Noise. No fluff.

Taxpayers for Peace has learned through our own investigative journaling, that Commissioner Tommy Long made a gross misstatement as published in Vicki Hyatt's April 14 article in the Mountaineer. Perhaps it was an outright lie, perhaps it was an exaggeration, we'll let you decide. But, it was not a factual statement.

Commissioner Long was quoted "I got feedback from two of the community association presidents after the weekend concert, both said the decibel levels were lower and our rules helped. They were appreciative."

First of all, there are only 3 community association presidents that Mr. Long could have been referring to. We have learned that one was out of town and the other FLAT OUT DENIES PROVIDING THIS FEEDBACK TO MR. LONG. The third president could not be reached for input. That being said, however, know that this 3rd president has NEVER asked his community for ANY input as to how the SMEC noise impacts their lives. This community has not had an association meeting in YEARS. There is no community directory or structure for keeping residents informed. Residents speak amongst themselves only, with very little contact from their estranged "president." Some of these residents are fed up with this situation of no communication. So, regardless of the alleged "input" this president provided to Mr. Long, IF he provided ANY INPUT AT ALL, it was NOT based on any feedback from the residents of this neighborhood.

As a reminder, these are just 3 neighborhoods, but the loud and disruptive noise of concerts and indoor musical events at the SMEC greatly impacts a much larger section of Haywood County, north on Route 209 to Lake Junaluska and out County Road.

We will never give up until this abuse of our peace and reprieve ceases. And we will win with THE TRUTH. The truth sets us free.....
