Last night was the last night of concerts "for the season" as we were told by the announcer from Asheville Music Hall. He also promised the crowd "but it is not the end of the concerts at the Smoky Mountain Event Center. We will be back in the spring. There will be more concerts."
If you have not "officially" filed any complaints to date, or feel you need to file a more detailed complaint, perhaps you have decibel recordings or video recordings to share....please do so with the Haywood County Sheriff's Department. It may not be too late even though the concerts have ended for now. Concerts were held all month, you can file a complaint on each concert, report how each disturbed you and why stating specifics. Call 828 452-6666. Hit #1. Be persistent in stating you need to speak to someone to file an official complaint. Get a document # if possible when complete. These reports become public record and we will compile them and present them to the Commissioners at a future meeting.
Reviewing the list below, the question comes to mind, how could ANYONE come into the area for business, OR already be familiar with the area surrounding the fairgrounds, AND consider this very concentrated line up, AND not think it may cause a problem?
Concerts included:
Oct 2 and 3 Mt. Joy Band
Oct 7 Yonder Mountain String Band (Bluegrass)
Oct 9 and 10 Papadosio (the tecno music, deafening bass)
Oct 17 Goose
Oct 24 Pigeons Playing Ping Pong (decibels 91-103 on one resident's deck)
Oct 27 Marcus King Trio
